Who are we? Symbiotic and Sustainable Systems is an education, research and consultancy organisation for sustainability, global citizenship and holistic outdoor learning.  We are based in the lovely natural environment of South Wales, UK.    We are a cultural and social change based organisation and as such we don't deliver gimmicky, trendy or diversionary programmes.  Our courses reflect critical thinking and action and required participants to engage on a deeper and more active level in all areas of their life.

Our highly qualified consultants have over 20 years' experience in a diversity of educational settings including non-formal, informal and formal learning in the fields of sustainability, global citizenship and holistic outdoor learning. Our trainers are published authors and experienced researchers and conference speakers.  Our consultancy and research activities provide access to innovative and up-to-date information to support our education and training courses and workshops.

 

We provide high quality education, training and consultation to all sectors of society. With a high level of understanding and competence in working with a diversity of learning styles and approaches we able to deliver programmes that cater for multiple forms of intelligences thereby assisting with a culture wide behaviour change process.

Behaviour change is the single most important factor in the global challenge to become a sustainable world. Understanding how to change behaviours and attitudes towards sustainable living and values without jeopardising cultural, social and individual identities is integral to this challenge.

Influencing change for environmental leadership and Sustainable Development is a sizeable task - changing behaviours is a complex matter - and innovative policies and practical solutions are required at every level of society (Defra, 2007).

Embedding Sustainable Development into everything that we do, through make Sustainable Development our central organising principle is the only way in which we can develop Wales as a sustainable nation.  ... It gives us the opportunity to show how we are playing our full role as a global citizen  ... The goal of sustainability requires everyone to play a part." (Welsh Assembly Government, 2009).
