Implementation of change for sustainability and global citizenship is a cultural process. From little things big things grow and the 'Pay it Forward'©  programme aims to start small to generate a groundswell movement for a sustainable cultural shift.

Many communities are passionate about maintaining their local culture but realise that sustainability and global citizenship are major influences on what they will be able to be achieved locally in the future. Enabling communities to facilitate and lead this change provides ownership or the cultural change process and respect for local cultures.  It also will establish a widespread network of local communities and cultures with an understanding and a strong foundation of support for practical change actions towards sustainability and global citizenship.

The project will start by identifying enthusiastic people from a diversity of Welsh communities to volunteer as part of a local community education for sustainability and global citizenship champion group. These groups would need to exhibit an ability to be sustainable in their own right.   Once established they will form the beginnings of a cultural network of local communities sharing knowledge of cultural change for sustainability and global citizenship.

Knowledge, understanding and ability to implement and maintain change for sustainability and global citizenship are integral to this local empowerment and Symbiotic and Sustainable Systems', 'Pay it Forward'©  programme will provide the local SGC champion groups with introductory knowledge to start their local education process.   We will then provide, where possible and necessary, on-going support to the communities to assist them to share their knowledge forward to others in their local communities and to implement local achievable and maintainable actions for change. The local SGC champion groups task is to share their knowledge with others in their local community to empower them to share it with others and so on … paying the sustainability and global citizenship knowledge forward and activating the cultural change process.
